Most students at four year universities have students live in the dorms the first year. This 'first time away from home' can be fun, exciting and challenging. Leading up to the dorm move in day you will want to know when and where to find great deals on dorm essentials. For the most part your typical Bed, Bath Beyond or target will have casual items you can use in a dorm year round - ranging from storage cubes to bulletin boards and more. However one type of item not stocked year round is the specially sized bedding designed for Twin XL beds (Most dorm mattresses measure 39 x 80, which is 5 inches longer than a typical twin bed).
With the sheets fitting nicely, you might want a nice comforter on top. A regular comforter, bedspread or blanket will come off easily. They make a comforter for bunk beds called a bunk bed cap. It is also known as a bunkie, hugger or snuggler. The bottom is fitted so it stays in place during the night and makes up nicely during the day. These special comforters are not just for bunk beds. They work well on twin or full beds, trundle beds or any bed with a footboard.
Read right on the front of the label on the packing, the manufacturer of bedding will tell you the tread count of the sheets. Tread count refers to the number of threads per square inch in both directions in the weave. The higher the thread count, the more luxurious the feel of a fabric. But thing to remember here, as a higher thread count usually means that the individual threads are thinner and may not wear as well. For good wear and to get the softest feel, we would suggest you to choose a thread count above two hundred and fifty but no lower than one hundred and seventy five. For those bed sheets you will sleep on every day, treat yourself. Choose the best you can according to your affordability.
